Alteration I (2025-2026)
Inherited kimono and masking tape (97x80x40cm)

The longer I spent wrapping the kimono in masking tape, the more this seemingly pointless and time-consuming act began to feel like a ritual. Like I was trying to keep something alive by preserving,  or mummifying it. By now, the kimono can stand on her own and adopts a different posture each time I place her somewhere. Yet she remains empty, like the imprint of someone who was once there.

In  The Ten Thousand Things 2026, she stands within an inaccessible space, completely wrapped in tape as well causing her almost to disappear into it. For me, the work refers to a feeling for which I have never been able to find a word.
