The Way We Were – Camera Obscura
Part of 3th year Group show Galerie Pexpo Amsterdam (June 2024)
Prints: camera obscura exposure on baryta paper (2x 80cmx250cm)

In 2023, I spent a year working in an old farmhouse in Weesp. My studio was in the empty attic. It reminded me of my childhood. When I lay in bed and heard the sounds from downstairs, a party, an argument, the television, I would imagine, on the ceiling above me, what was happening below without me.

That memory gave me the idea of letting the house project itself onto itself. In the attic, I built a camera obscura and drilled a hole through the floor, allowing upstairs and downstairs to merge. Downstairs, I reconstructed furniture as I remembered it and placed it in the room. I attached photosensitive paper to the ceiling, capturing the projection from my memory.
